Introduction

Tor Vergata University of Rome, in collaboration with the University Sports Center - Rome Tor Vergata A.S.D., in accordance with the provisions of the European Sports Charter and European guidelines on dual careers, provides for each academic year that national and international athletes, coaches, and referees are admitted to the "Dual Career" Program.

With Rectoral Decree No. 1031 of April 5, 2022, the "REGULATION ON THE DUAL CAREER OF ATHLETES AND STUDENTS AT TOR VERGATA UNIVERSITY OF ROME was issued. The above regulation can be viewed at the following link:

Benefits

 The University recognizes economic and educational benefits to student-athletes, as detailed in Article 3 of the aforementioned Regulation and as follows:

  1. Partial exemption of 30% on university fees, not cumulative with other types of partial exemptions.
  2. The possibility of reducing mandatory attendance for nationally and/or internationally recognized events of preeminent interest, certified by the relevant federation, in consultation with the University Sports Center Roma Tor Vergata and subject to authorization from the relevant Degree Course Committee, in accordance with legal obligations.
  3. Authorization not to count absences in courses and lessons where attendance is required for nationally and/or internationally recognized events of preeminent interest, certified by the relevant federation, in consultation with the University Sports Center Roma Tor Vergata and subject to authorization from the relevant Degree Course Committee, in accordance with legal obligations.
  4. The possibility of temporary suspension of studies for one year for significant sporting commitments.
  5. Recognition of university educational credits, one-time, for a maximum of 6 ECTS credits,, The possibility of reducing mandatory attendance for nationally and/or internationally recognized events of preeminent interest, certified by the relevant federation, in consultation with the University Sports Center Roma Tor Vergata and subject to authorization from the relevant Degree Course Committee, in accordance with legal obligations.*.

How to activate the dual career

Students who wish to request recognition as a student-athlete and obtain benefits for their sporting achievements must:

  • Complete the form
  • Submit the completed and signed form, along with a copy of an identification document and documentation verifying their sporting achievements, to the email address studenteatleta@uniroma2.it by March 15th of each year for evaluation by the specially appointed Commission.

Subsequently, the committee will assess the student's application, and the outcome of the evaluation will be communicated to the student by the administrative offices. In the event of a positive evaluation, the dual career program for student-athletes will be activated, enabling the student to access the benefits provided.

 

* The Administration issues a certificate to the student, confirming their status as a student-athlete in the dual career program. This certificate should be presented to their Degree Course professors. Upon the student's formal request, the Degree Course Committee may, at its discretion, allocate a maximum of 6 ECTS credits for sports activities undertaken by the student (and duly certified by the relevant Federation). The credits assigned by the Committee will be considered as fulfilling specific activities/exams outlined in the requesting student's study plan.
