Seeking to nurture a harmonious learning environment where respect and inclusivity reign supreme, Tor Vergata University of Rome has taken a step by establishing an "alias career" program for transgender students. This initiative, endorsed by the University Board on 26 April 2016, aims to empower transgender students to navigate their academic journey with enhanced comfort and dignity.

Under this program, transgender students are afforded the opportunity to request an alias, an interim and non-permanent identity status, which allows them to use their chosen name and gender identity on official university records, including their student ID card. This temporary measure aims to facilitate a smooth transition into their authentic selves while pursuing their academic goals.

The alias career program serves as a preliminary step preceding the legal rectification of personal data, as stipulated by Law 164/1982.
