Italian language knowledge requirement
If you are a non-EU student residing abroad, applying for a study visa, and you wish to enrol in a study course in Italian, you must prove that you have an adequate level of knowledge of the Italian language in order to access your university studies.
Read the information on how to satisfy the Italian language requirement:
- possess a five-year or four-year secondary education diploma obtained at Italian state schools or paritarian schools abroad;
- pass the Italian language test organised by our University. You can find all the information about the test registration procedure, deadlines and the registration fee in the "notices" section of the following link: https://web.uniroma2.it/it/percorso/studenti/sezione/studenti_internazionali
- be in possession of a language certificate attesting that they have passed the ITALIAN L2 -CISIA TEST, at other Italian universities, with a score of no less than 61/72;
- present a certificate of knowledge of the Italian language of a level not lower than B2 of the Council of Europe, issued under the CLIQ (Italian Language Quality Certification) quality system, which brings together in association the current certifying bodies (University for Foreigners of Perugia, University for Foreigners of Siena, University Roma Tre, Società 'Dante Alighieri'), as well as issued by the University for Foreigners 'Dante Alighieri' of Reggio Calabria, also in agreement with Italian Cultural Institutes abroad or other accredited bodies. These certifications can be obtained in the country of origin, in affiliated examination venues around the world.
